Our Patron

St. Joseph is the foster father of Jesus the Son of God, and virginal spouse of Mary, to whom he was given in true matrimony. He was the son of Jacob and the adopted or legal son of Heli both of the family of David.

His was a very high calling; and he lived up to it perfectly, for the Holy Spirit characterizes him as a just man. His trade was that of carpentry, which probably included the making of ploughs, yokes, doors, furniture and such like. Being a man of solid virtue and character, he solved his problems in prayer and patience, and God Himself came to his aid on several occasions. Obedient to the least indication of the divine will, Joseph guided Mary with the Child to Bethlehem, sheltered them in the exile of Egypt, and lived with them for years in the humble silence of Nazareth.

When the Child was twelve years old, he accompanied Him with His Mother to the Temple in Jerusalem, where he recovered Him after the painful three day loss. The last we hear of Joseph in the Gospel is that Jesus went down to Nazareth and was subject to him.

This saint of hard work, deep faith, and perfect obedience is the patron of St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School, Chumukedima. May St. Joseph continue to bless us.
